Why is national defence education special compared to other subjects?
- Versatility – In addition to knowledge about security and defence policy and the organization of national defence, national defence education provides practical skills in first aid, weapon handling, drill, topography, orienteering, fire response, and environmental protection.
- Special instructor – National defence education is usually taught by experts in the field – active-duty military personnel or members of the Defence League, who can teach the subject in an engaging, illustrative, and practical way.
- Connection with other subjects – National defence education shares common elements with mathematics, physics, geography, chemistry, and other subjects, which can be integrated with national defence education to help better understand them.
- Important role of outdoor learning – The course includes several field trips and concludes with an outdoor camp supervised by military personnel.
