The Defence Resources Agency’s scholarship program for engineering students is back

On November 15, the popular scholarship competition for students studying engineering and technical fields opens. The goal is to support up to 30 students in acquiring knowledge and applying it in national defence.
The scholarship program, which had a successful launch last year, offers not only financial support but also the opportunity to be involved with the Defence Forces’ new technological developments during studies. Students are prepared to write their university thesis on national defence topics and, upon graduation, pursue a career in national defence.
Students who want to contribute to Estonia’s defence capability development are encouraged to apply. “The aim of the scholarship program is to bring people into national defence who are interested in meaningful work in a rapidly developing technological field. Weaponry, communication, and IT equipment have reached a level where specialists work with future technologies. Therefore, we support the studies of future national defenders to ensure they receive the best possible education,” said Anu Rannaveski, Director General of the Defence Resources Agency.
According to Rene Rässa, the competition organizer and marketing project manager at the Defence Resources Agency, the scholarship program is an excellent opportunity for engineering students to enter national defence service, where their skills, personal qualities, and interests can be applied in the best possible place. “I encourage all students who want to be at the forefront of technological development in military capabilities and lead it to apply,” Rässa added.
The scholarship amount is 500 euros per month, with a 10-month period paid in two installments for successful completion of the autumn and spring semesters.
To apply, students must submit an application, motivation letter, and university proof of curriculum, nominal duration, and study load to the Defence Resources Agency by December 15. Applicants are expected to be second-year students at Estonian universities studying in technical, communication, and information and communication technology fields.
